On Sunday, March 22nd, after coffee hour, our youth got their hands dirty for a great cause. Working with Steve Novak from the Brookfield Agricultural Commission, the teens sowed marigold seeds and transplanted young tomato plants into larger pots as the first step of this year’s mission trip fundraiser.
The plants are being started now so they will be ready for our “Tomatoes by Teens” plant sale at the Brookfield Garden Club Plant Sale on the Common on May 23rd, a community event that encourages people of all ages to try gardening.
As Galatians 6:9 reminds us, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
The plants will be cared for in the Fellowship Hall until May, when they will be sold to help support our youth summer mission trip. Be sure to stop by the sale and support the teens by purchasing a tomato or marigold plant grown right here at BCC!
